bash user given windows

“What happens when a bash user is given windows.

He writes batch scripts”

Quote that sonna

Feeling crippled

3 10 2009

Without my system with me right now I am crippled,  intermittent internet and lack of a working linux system here drives me crazy.

I was just back from home. I couldn’t get enough of bash to satisfy me then.
It’s time to cough up some cash for a new sys.

Never have I realized this level of dependence on things or more like bits and bytes of linux, before.

I would readily write up a MISS YOU note and send home had I been that emotional a person.

Windows really sucks seriously!

3 10 2009

I have never tried more than a few installs of windows as compared to the many linux installs I have done.

Recently had to fix up a friends system which runs vista home some edition.
What would have been a jiffy with linux ruined half my night. And that too without the help of  my incompetence.

I can now attest firsthand to the title of the post.

Amazing shots

I like to design my own themes and GDM logins. Haven’t quite gotten to publish them or have I? I can’t remember.
Check out these places in
They have the making of a quality backgrounds for gnome.
One particular in the panaroma is good for the lord of the rings conceptualisation.
Good one for gdm logins
I presume these are open licensed.
Right now I haven’t a system to kick some logins for anyone interested here they are.

Happenings

25 02 2009

Nothing interesting.

Started developing calluses on my fingers, broke a guitar string by trying to act too smart when tuning one.

Reverted back to blackbox instead of Gnome after an unsuccessful upgrade to F10.

Now I know what people mean by ‘rpm hell’.

Had a row with pops and punched a mirror in fury(regretting it later, of course).

On a lighter note:

Chetan and I have decided to go fishing these days. Ripped a couple of bamboo shoots from the bushes near Dodabetta.

Bought a few fish hooks, line and float from Quetta stores, damn those guys remembered to buy some for us as promised.
Not quite sure about the shoot length or its parameters, anyways.

Will be going to fisheries to find out about the regulations.

Hope to catch a big one.

Still at home, enjoying every bit!

15 11 2008

Well, this is no news to people I know, everone is still waiting for their shot

at the corporate world.

Meanwhile, thinking about the crazy future does sound wonky for me. I have been
giving due consideration to the long lost books in my shelf and the games in my
CDs, still teaching linux here. Will not disclose where I work.

Started a rerun of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, watching 9th season now.

Rediscovering Crichton and Tolkien.

Still have the better part of lost se 2 to watch.

Thus the glory of having a degree and staying home goes.
I dare not think that I am wasting my time here, being productive
in my own way, did you know that chinese cooking is best here at shikows.
And that lager is better than a strong one.

Enough about real life, in tech- I stripped out my kernel to the bare necessary still
my SATA dvd drive doesn’t work,  I hate to accept it is a hardware error. Freaking thing
works like a mad one in the other OS.

Trying my hand at writing a driver for it. Also the bloody Conexant modem sucks in Linux.
Hate the pay for software in Linux.

Trying out Fedora 9

26 05 2008

First impression: Kde 4 is clean, will be better soon I guess.

Visible improvements: Performance and quick response.

Problems: SATA DVD drive still doesn’t work, will be trying out new kernel tonight.

Google Charts Api- Cool

13 04 2008

A lot of my emotions are brought to life only when I hear people telling me about it.

The other day Sam said that I was one of the person who was enjoying doing my project.

Course I am enjoying it. How else would I mindlessly sit at the terminal writing cgi code in python.

Apart from rrdtool another recent this that brought some eye candy to my project was this.

google charts for network statistics

I gathered sys stats from the system and built urls that linked to google to produce these fine charts.

wanna see how I did it?

Look at this

Leave comments if you have any ideas for improvement. Or better still join our project.

Another all nighter

10 04 2008

As the time of this post might suggest I am writing this in the dead of the night.

There is a little bit of catching up to do with the project report.

Why didn’t we put the analysis and design part onto paper rather than having it in our minds?

Gonna have to create an appropriate design that would suit the product for the reports.

Used rrdtool to generate cool graphs, did charts using google charts api.

Will upload recent snaps soon.

btw project hosted on code.google no more waiting and approval.
