Last of the exams–hopefully

3 05 2008

Paid my dues with compiler design yesterday.

Waiting to see if I could clear it this time.

I’ll go home in a few days.
Guys, see you there.

Waiting for Fedora sulphur to come out. No LAN connection here to upgrade directly.
Downloaded most of the source dvd though.

Last days of cramming

27 04 2008

Have got a couple of rough exams coming up

They have started tea and we have started with Stronghold crusader.
Long nights of cramming have started. Hoping to get enough gyan to clear these papers.

Project viva was pretty neat.

Will be going home in the first week of may.

Creatures of the night

11 04 2008

As a friend of mine so aptly put it; we have become the creatures of the night (like batman/spiderman ;-) ).

Working all night and spending the day without a worry about rain or shine (this is my case.)

Only time has to answer if this is going to get me in trouble with the system on which we spend our pop’s bucks just to see a piece of B S paper that the world tends to call THE real education.

f#$K

Where in the world does this make me educated, I see people all around me far more truly educated than us, who know the know-how of life that we can only imagine to possess or buy for $$.

What is life without this true education the inborn creativity and human values that this system so magnificently nips at the bud.

By rote learning will get you into universities. Why? So that an entire economy or even civilization fall prey to morons with only crappy degrees and no sense about life and nature?

Solutions exist; but will take generations of failures to realize this. I bet the future kids will be laughing their brains out reading our history (so well documented in media and the net.)

Euthenics may be the answer for the elites but who cares about the grassroots in this county. Call it any name you want for your publicity stunts but the macro picture is that the system is FUBAR that the effort input on these young students is actually counter productive.

I am talking about kids in the range of 12 who are force fed junk and they call this education. True learning comes not out of the need for shelter and meals but of a yearning to be a better person and be responsible to the entire human community.

I pity the instructors who are in a moral dilemma over forcing burden-laden students(or more aptly refugees, as is the case) to memorize battles of the past or letting them get a real education.

If you were like me a suited up stud of private schools left behind by the Raj: you will most probably fail to grasp what I am talking about.

Lucky me I have gathered enough to realize this now from stories about school life in the rurals from my mom.

The more I think of it, the more I feel guilty of the privilege to vent my anger here when there are scores out there who have no inkling of what I am doing now.

Another all nighter

10 04 2008

As the time of this post might suggest I am writing this in the dead of the night.

There is a little bit of catching up to do with the project report.

Why didn’t we put the analysis and design part onto paper rather than having it in our minds?

Gonna have to create an appropriate design that would suit the product for the reports.

Used rrdtool to generate cool graphs, did charts using google charts api.

Will upload recent snaps soon.

btw project hosted on code.google no more waiting and approval.

Bck frm home

8 01 2008

I am back!

Ooty was cold as usual.

We were not able to go to kotagiri.
Ashok had come in from Kolkata. Had a wonderful day with old friends.

Did enjoy the weather but was still feeling a little desperate for warmth.

Project review in another half hour.

We have been planning the project for a long time and it seems to be high time that we started coding.

Going home

18 12 2007

Going home tomorrow.

Plans are to meet up with Suriya, Ashok and the rest of the gang.

We’ll be trekking in some part of Kotagiri.

Its been a while since we had some wildlife adventures, last time it was Avalanche.
Wonderful place, majestic heights and raw nature. Boy, those were days!

Have to brace up for the bitter weather though.

This week’s happenings

10 11 2007

Just today we wrote our Business Environment paper. Nothing remarkable, same story that we experienced in the Economics class some years ago. However, this paper simply boasted about the various institutions in the country that aid in industrial development.

Been watching the second season of Heroes and Prison Break; good action in both. Waiting to watch the remaining episodes.

Just enjoyed ChickenRun, only now did I get a chance. Remercier Dieu

Counter strike still rocks.

Ought to study for Mobile communication and the like.

Diwali was good but I feel bad for I couldn’t be home

People took the liberty of blasting a few crackers inside the hostel
well… lets just say that the damages were minimal this year (comparatively, of course).

The worst sem is over

30 10 2007

Today we officially wrapped up the worst sem in the entire course.

All that is left now are the practicals and theory.

Ought to have a loving look at Crypto again. Been a long time since I read that Stallings book, duel with a little calculus and play with compiler design.

These are some subjects in which I was (in the words of Calvin) “informationally impaired”.

Je suis triste que j’aie perdu le temps

End of sem

14 10 2007

Gosh
This is my most underachieved sem in the entire course.

Its all going to be over in a few days time. No idea what hit us.

Tiring week this.

10 10 2007

These internals have been tiring.

Been looking for a project to take on.

Will most probably end up developing a net connection requisition software for a LAN.

This will surely reduce all the paperwork involved when applying for a connection.

Have to discuss the model with Mr. Ewards.

Just want to work in some realtime project over the net.

That will go on along side.
